The rest were genuine complaints that had been left completely unanswered for months, making the situation appear worse than it was.

We analysed every 1 and 2-star review against Google's content policies. 18 reviews were identified as policy violations โ€” accounts with no history, multiple 1-star reviews on competing businesses, and no specific detail about any real visit. Each was formally reported through the correct Google channel with documented evidence.

Professional Response to All Existing Reviews

Every unanswered negative review โ€” genuine and fake โ€” received a professional, calm, on-brand response. For genuine complaints, we acknowledged the issue and offered a resolution path. This alone started shifting how potential customers perceived the business โ€” a company that listens and responds is trusted, even with a lower rating.

Genuine Customer Complaint Resolution

For reviews mentioning specific product or service issues, we worked with the business to reach out to those customers directly, resolve the problem, and โ€” where appropriate โ€” invite them to update their review. Several 1-star reviews were updated to 4 and 5-star after the issue was resolved.

Review Generation System

We implemented a post-purchase WhatsApp follow-up and in-store QR code system to ask satisfied customers for honest reviews. Volume of new genuine reviews increased month on month, progressively diluting the impact of the remaining negative reviews.

Competitor Spam Monitoring

We set up ongoing monitoring for new fake reviews and reported each one as it appeared, keeping the rating clean as it improved. The competitor spam attempts reduced significantly once they saw every fake review being removed.

The Results

From 2.1 to 4.4 Stars. In 6 Months.

The rating climbed steadily as fake reviews were removed, genuine complaints were resolved, and new positive reviews came in month after month. By month 3 the business had crossed 3.5 stars. By month 6 they were at 4.4 โ€” comfortably above the threshold where customers trust a business and choose it.
